Vernon Studt

Vernon Studt has recently taken over the lease of Barry Island Pleasure Park. In the 1800's the Studt's came from Bavaria and on arrival in South Wales became horse dealers. They later moved into the showground business. Jacob Studt came to Barry and opened a small fairground on the old showground in Holton Road. Jacob was one of three brothers (John and Henry were the other two). Late in the 1800's he opened one of the first fairgrounds on the sands at Barry Island. It comprised of two small round-a-bouts and a miniature railway.

Vernon Studt has brought many new rides to the park and has plans to bring even more in during the summer holidays. With the new rides, stalls and catering outlets, all within a one minute walk of the beach, Barry Island Pleasure Park is a fun filled family day out.

General History

The park has been used as a filming location for several successful television shows, including Gavin and Stacey, Being Human, Not Going out, and the Sarah Jane Adventures
